Farewell VMware – Welcome Public Cloud

Goodbye

Hello readers!

It is official now, after two wonderful Years at VMware I left the job as Senior Consultant. Before I will tell you more what I will do I would like to share a few words with you about my decision.

NSX SFTP Backup stops working after upgrade to NSX 6.3.*

I am in a process of upgrading NSX 6.2.4 by a customer in three locations deployed using VVD Deployment Toolkit. The NSX Upgrade itself went really smoothly. However, after the upgrade, we noticed that SFTP backup stopped working with an enigmatic error.

Unable to connect to server FQDN at 22. Either server details are invalid or invalid credentials are presented.( Common algorithms not found. )

My new Home Lab

Working at VMware provides many fantastic possibilities. One of it is a possibility to use vCloud Director based environment where you can spin up any lab you want (of course with per-user limits 😉 ). This environment has some limits and I decided to purchase new Home Lab.

After long considerations, I decided to buy well known in VMware community Supermicro E300-8D. It has amazing hardware combined with very small chassis.

Failed to start File System Check on vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA)

My lab hasn’t been used for a few weeks due to business in a Project. As I have a VCIX6-NV exam on this Friday I had to refresh my knowledge and prepare myself a bit before I try to pass it. I was quite surprised when I logged into the lab and it was down. After quick login to ESXi, I discovered an error on vCSA and PSC - Failed to start File System Check on /dev/dis…uuid. Today I will show you what needs to be done after such failure to recover your vCSA / PSC appliance.
